Frederick Slips Past Volleyball

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team came out firing on all cylinders against Frederick Community College Monday evening. The Riverhawks kept it close for the bulk of the match, falling to the Cougars, 3-1.

It looked like the match was going to go to a fifth set as AACC pressed on late in the set, tying it at 22-all, 23-all, 24-all and 25-all only to see Frederick escape with a 27-25 win.

The Riverhawks won the first set, 25-21, before dropping the second, 25-15, and third, 25-13.

Sabrina Sheppard recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs. Jaymee Green hit .429 in the match with nine kills, eight digs and a team-high three block assists. Setter Megan Helinski assisted 29 of the Riverhawks' 37 total kills. As a team, AACC combined for 11 service aces, led by Sheppard with three.

AACC closes out the regular season on Thursday, October 13, in a 6 p.m. home match against the College of Southern Maryland.
