Volleyball Falls to Montgomery in Five Set Marathon Match

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team fought through a fire alarm, a suspended match, and five sets against Division II Montgomery, eventually falling to the Raptors, 5-4.

The match began at 6 pm on Tuesday, September 21, and ended late in the afternoon on Saturday, September 25. After narrowly falling behind two sets to one on Tuesday, the Riverhawks stormed back to win the third set, 25-23. But after the teams had submitted their lineups for the fourth set, fire alarms started blaring in Jenkins Gym and the match could not be continued.

AACC tied up the match in the fourth set of the completion on Saturday, winning 26-24, before falling in the fifth, 15-3.

Emma Quandt and Karen Bautista each posted 12 kills, and Quandt added four solo blocks in the marathon match. Katy Raynor was the top playmaker with 21 assists, and libero Angela Lucero led the defense with six digs.
