Volleyball Opens Home Slate with 3-0 Win Over Howard

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team won its home opener in exciting fashion Thursday evening, defeating Howard, 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-17). Sophomore Karen Bautista led the offense with 16 kills and a career-high five aces.

AACC (1-1) averaged 13.67 kills per set in the match, also receiving 10 from Emma Quandt. The Riverhawks totaled 14 aces in the match, also receiving three each from Angela Lucero and Elizabeth Jarboe.

Jarboe and Katy Raynor combined for three solo blocks and a pair of block assists. Raynor had a match-high 23 assists, and Lucero led the Riverhawks with nine digs.

The win marked the first for head coach Tanecha Rice, who took over the program just a month ago.

AACC is back in action on Saturday, September 18, in a home tri-match with Chesapeake (11 am) and Cecil (3 pm).
