Riverhawk Athlete Headed for NCAA Athletics

Riverhawk Athlete Headed for NCAA Athletics

Riverhawk sophomore Samantha Hebb signed a National Letter of Intent with North Greenville University on Wednesday November 18th to play volleyball beginning next year. Part of the Conference Carolinas – a NCAA Division II athletics conference – Hebb is excited to make her transition from Riverhawk to Crusader.

Before her two years as a student athlete at AACC, Samantha's passion for volleyball began at age 9.  Enjoyment and hard work then led her to 4 years of competing at the varsity level for Arundel High School.  When discussing her thoughts and expectations about being a part of her new team, Hebb stated that she could not be more excited. "Competing at the next level is something I am really looking forward to.  I have already met the coach and most of the team – and they were so welcoming and made me feel really comfortable about going there."

Samantha learned a lot about herself during her time as a student athlete at Anne Arundel Community College and credits some of her growth and achievements to this past season's challenges.  The 2015 Riverhawk Volleyball team was tested with various injuries to their line-up, forcing players to fill roles.  Hebb, being the natural captain she is, transitioned from being a powerful Outside Hitter to a strong Setter - orchestrating the offense as her team needed.

Head Coach Adriane Mcdivitt had only positive remarks regarding her DII bound athlete, "I am so excited to see what the future has in store for Sam Hebb.  She has been a part of AACC's Volleyball team for the past two years and has helped this program tremendously.  She has grown into an amazing player, and is a natural leader.  I am confident that Sam will excel in her future, and the she will succeed greatly at North Greenville."

Samantha has been studying childhood education here at AACC and plans to continue on that path at North Greenville.  Volleyball was an important part of her own youth so coaching and teaching others is something she sees herself enjoy doing.

The South Carolina institution is home to 20 athletic programs, and we are proud to have Samantha Hebb as a representative of the Riverhawk family as she continues her athletic career.  We all wish her the best of luck.
