COLUMBIA, Md. – The fourth seeded Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team knocked off top seed Potomac State College, 3-0, in the NJCAA Region 20 Division 2 Semifinals Wednesday afternoon at Howard Community College. Ally Lavery led AACC with a goal and an assist.

Tina Tinelli and Jaylin Sheffield also scored for the Riverhawks, who improve to 8-4-3 on the year and will face No. 3 seed CCBC Essex in Saturday's championship game at noon. THe Knights defeated second seed College of Southern Maryland, 3-1, in Wednesday's other semifinal.

Lavery put AACC on the board in the 10th minute of the game, finishing a cross from Mia Hull. Lavery then sent a loft ball toward the net for Sheffield to head in for a 2-0 lead in the 30th minute.

Tinelli capped the scoring in the 75th minute, heading in a corner from Megan Miller.

AACC keeper McKenzie Lanham made one save in each half to earn the shutout victory.

Today's game was reminiscent of the 2012 Region 20 tournament when the Riverhawks also knocked off the top-seeded Catamounts, 3-1, in the title game.
