Women's Soccer Shuts Out Middlesex

ARNOLD, MD.Makenzie Boyd scored a hat trick and an assist as the Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team dealt visiting Middlesex College a 7-0 loss Sunday in non-region action at Siegert Field.

Mia Hull, Aiyanna Pullins, Morgan Lanham, and Jaylin Sheffield each added a goal for the Riverhawks, who improve to 5-2-1.

AACC scored three times in a seven-minute span during the first half. Boyd opened the scoring with a breakaway in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute, Boyd and Sheffield crashed through the back line for Boyd to cross to an undefended Sheffield for the easy score. And Boyd capped the run with a penalty kick goal in the 20th minute.

Hull (28') and Boyd (39') gave the Riverhawks a 5-0 lead headed into halftime on breakaway goals.

Boyd knocked in a corner from Sheffield less than two minutes into the second half and Pullins – who was moved up front in the second half - finished a cross from Madelynn Rowe that was misplayed by the defense in the 69th minute to cap the scoring.

Overall, the Riverhawks outshot the Colts, 19-6. AACC keeper Jasmin Godinez made three saves in 63 minutes of action. McKenzie Lanham did not face a shot in the remainder of the game.

AACC is back in action on Thursday, September 28, in a 4 p.m. home game against Garrett College.
