Weseman, Hall Named NJCAA All-America

ARNOLD, MD – Two members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team have been named to the 2022 NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-America Second Team, it was announced Tuesday. Center back Asylin Weseman and outside back Ally Hall each earned All-America honors for the first time in their careers.

"Asylin and Ally are extremely deserving of this award," said Head Coach Jim Griffiths. "They played every minute of every game. I am glad that the NJCAA recognized their contributions and I'm extremely happy that they earned this award in closing out their AACC careers."

The sophomore duo anchored the Riverhawks' defense, which ranked 13th in the nation in goals allowed with 35 in 14 games played. Against Division III opponents, AACC went 5-1 on the year, allowing just eight goals. The Riverhawks' lone loss in Division III games was to national champion Dallas-Brookhaven in the NJCAA tournament.

"Asylin as a center back was the leader of our defense and was outstanding in all facets of the game," said Griffiths. "She is a great communicator, is steady and calm under pressure, and is highly skilled."

"Ally as an outside back was rarely beat," added Griffiths. "She is a great one vs one defender who reads the game extremely well, and her work ethic was second to none."

The All-America selections mark the first for the Riverhawks since 2013, and the first time AACC has had two selections since 1999. AACC finished the season with a 6-8 record after their 11th appearance in the NJCAA tournament.
