HERKIMER, N.Y. – Sophomore Ryann Brooks scored in the 65th minute to lead the Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Ocean County College in the consolation round of the 2022 NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships in Herkimer, N.Y.
AACC goalkeeper Kaitlin Kenney made five saves in her second shutout of the season.
Macey McPherson ran through the ball to set up the game-winning goal that Brooks picked out of the hands of Ocean keeper Holly Applegate before depositing in the net for her sixth goal of the season.
The Riverhawks (6-8) had an opportunity go up by two in the 80th minute with a penalty kick, but the attempt was saved by Applegate.
Brooks, Madelynn Rowe, and Cassidy Smith each had two shots on net for the Riverhawks.
AACC made its 11th appearance in the NJCAA national tournament this season, returning for the first time since 2014. Against Division III opponents this season, the Riverhawks went 5-1.
