Frederick Outlasts Women's Soccer, Lightning Delay

ARNOLD, MD – Visiting Frederick Community College dealt host Anne Arundel Community College a 3-1 loss Tuesday evening in Region 20 women's soccer action at Siegert Field. A steady cold rain poured down during the entire game and with the game tied at 1-1 and 28:52 left on the second-half clock , lightning in the area forced a 90-minute delay.

Frederick scored twice in a three-minute span shortly after the restart to earn the win. Tyler Rendelman finished a long cross from Jordan Ritta in the 64th minute and Kerri Donohue lofted in a long ball in the 67th minute.

AACC controlled the action in the first half, scoring in the fifth minute and outshooting the Cougars at a 10-5 clip in the frame. Madelynn Rowe scored her third goal of the season as she sprinted between a group of defenders to reach a through ball from Cassidy Smith, finishing it across the cage.

Just before halftime, Donohue finished a pass from Gemme Carioti to knot the score at 1-1 headed into the break.

AACC keeper Kaitlyn Kenney made eight stops in the game, split evenly between the halves. Frederick's Georgia Arhos made five saves in her first win of the season.

The Riverhawks are back in action on Sunday, October 9, in a 3 p.m. home game against Potomac State.
