Women's Soccer Wins Home Opener vs Union

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team defeated Union College, 5-3, in the Riverhawks' home opener Saturday afternoon at Siegert Field. Ryann Brooks led AACC with a pair of goals.

Cassidy Smith recorded a pair of assists in the game. Ally Hall had a goal and an assist. Madelynn Rowe and Kaitlyn Evans each added goals for AACC.

The score was tied, 3-3, at halftime, and AACC found the back of the net twice in the second half while keeper Kaitlyn Kenney stopped both shots she faced in the frame to keep the Owls off the board.

Brooks netted her first goal in the second minute of the game with a long ball that sailed past the Union keeper. The Owls responded with a goal in the fifth minute and then took a 2-1 lead in the 32nd minute.

Smith set up Hall for her first career goal with a long corner to tie the game in the 34th minute. Union's final goal came three minutes later, and then it was all AACC the rest of the wau.

Hall returned the favor to Rowe with a through ball for the freshman's first career goal in the 38th minute.

Evans headed in a corner from Smith in the 53rd minute before Brooks capped the scoring with another shot from 18 yards out.

Kenney finished the game with eight saves in her first collegiate win.

AACC held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks and led, 19-17 in shots.

The Riverhawks hit the road for a pair of games at Holyoke CC September 3 and 4. AACC faces host Holyoke ok Saturday at noon and will play Springfield Tech at Holyoke on Sunday, September 4.
