Women's Soccer Opens Season With 3-0 Win Over CSM

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team opened the season with a 3-0 win over visiting College of Southern Maryland Thursday night at Siegert Field. Joy Emojong led AACC with a pair of goals, including a penalty kick tally in the 82nd minute.

AACC (1-0) got on the board in the 17th minute when Cassidy Smith bent in the Riverhawks' first corner kick of the game, tucking the ball just inside the near post.

Emojong followed a little over two minutes later, putting in a rebound from Tori Minnigh shot.

Late in the game, AACC was awarded two penalty kicks in quick succession, seeing Minnigh's attempt in the 79th minute get saved before Emojong scored on her attempt just three minutes later.

Sarah Ward earned the win in net with four saves. Overall, the Riverhawks outshot their opponents, 19-8.

AACC is idle until Friday, September 10, when the Riverhawks travel to Howard for a 4 pm Region 20 game.
