ARNOLD, Md. – Two members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team have been named All-Region 20, it was announced recently. Freshman Ayannah Gorham was named to the First Team, and sophomore Bianca Garin was named honorable mention.
Gorham, a forward from Severn, Md., averaged a double-double on the year with 17.7 points and 14 rebounds per game. She was the Region 20 leader and ranked fourth in NJCAA Division II in rebounds per game and ranked fourth in the Region in points per game. Gorham recorded 12 double-doubles on the season, recording a career-high 19 boards to go with 22 points against Butler County.
Gorham was the NJCAA Region 20 DII Women's Basketball Player of the Month in November, 2023, after averaging 20.2 points and 12.2 rebounds during the month, including a career high 33 point game against divisional rival Potomac State.
Garin, a guard from Glen Burnie, Md., averaged 16.2 points per game for the Rivherhawks, scoring 20+ points on eight occasions. She scored a career-high 26 points against Middlesex early in the season and matched it again in the second half against CCBC Catonsville. Garin rebounded from a midseason injury to post a 20 point game against Allegany in late February. In addition to being a scoring threat, Garin was a key playmaker for the Riverhawks, dishing 2.4 assists per game.
AACC finished the year 3-18 under Head Coach Lionel Makell, in his 11th season at the helm of the program.
