Women's Basketball Closes Season With Pair of Road Losses

ARNOLD, Md. -- The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a pair of road losses, falling to Division I Allegany, 66-45, Friday evening, and 92-72 at Garrett Saturday afternoon.

Allegany jumped out to a big lead in Friday night's game, but AACC rallied in the second quarter to outscore the Trojans, 22-12. The hosts limited the Riverhawks offensively in the second half to earn the victory. Bianca Garin paced AACC with 20 points in the game, netting three three-pointers, and had four steals. Holly Wall had nine rebounds, three steals, and a pair of blocks.

The Riverhawks' balanced scoring against Garrett saw all five starters score in double figures. Ayannah Gorham recorded her 16th double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Wall scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double while adding three blocks. Garin had 14 points, again hitting three three-pointers, while Leila Townsend scored 14 points and dished three assists. SeRi Miles scored 10 points and had a pair of blocks.

Both teams came out firing in the first quarter, but Garrett took a 28-20 point lead into the first quarter break. The Lakers outscored the Riverhawks, 17-11, in the second quarter to hold a 45-31 lead headed into the locker room. The Lakers erupted for 27 points in the third quarter, and both teams again were on the offensive combining for 44 points in the fourth.

AACC finishes the season with a 3-18 record, claiming victories over Division I Harford, Region 20 divisional foe Community College of Beaver County, and Butler County, which was a 40-point win.
