Women's Basketball Flies Past Harford

BEL AIR, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team romped past Division I Harford Community College Wednesday night, securing a 98-75 win over the Owls. Leila Townsend and SeRi Miles had career-best nights as Townsend scored 29 points and Miles scored 21.

Ayannah Gorham scored 31 points in her second 30+ point outing of the season. Gorham also pulled down 18 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season. Holly Wall grabbed a game-high 21 boards for the Riverhawks.

The Riverhawks, who scored 26 points in the first, third, and fourth quarters, trailed for just 40 seconds in the game before going on an 11-0 run to secure the lead. In the second quarter, Harford climbed back to briefly cut AACC's lead to single digits, but the Riverhawks responded quickly to extend their lead. Harford hit a three-pointer as the halftime buzzer sounded to send the teams to the locker rooms with the Riverhawks comfortably ahead, 46-31.

AACC kept up the pace in the second half and extended its lead to a game-high 30 points within the final five minutes of the game. Harford closed out the second half with another three-point heave to make the final score 98-75 in AACC's favor.

The Riverhawks dominated down low with 38 points in the paint and 27 second-chance points. AACC doubled up Harford in the rebounding battle, leading 62-31. The Riverhawks controlled the ball well and manufactured 23 points off of the Owls' 16 turnovers.

AACC is on the road Saturday in a 1 p.m. NJCAA Region 20 divisional game at Garrett College.
