Women's Basketball Falls to No. 7 Prince George's

ARNOLD, Md. – The seventh-ranked Prince George's Community College women's basketball team dealt host Anne Arundel Community College a 64-29 loss Saturday afternoon in Region 20 action at Jenkins Gym.

Jada Turner led the Riverhawks with eight points and seven rebounds. Ruth Marshall paced AACC with 11 rebounds in just 14 minutes on the floor. Isabella Papaleonti recorded four stals and eight rebounds to go with four points.

The first quarter proved to be a defensive battle as neither team scored a basket until almost three minutes into the game. Trailing, 6-0, with 1:32 left on the clock, the Riverhawks got back in the game with back-to-back three-pointers from Brandy Middleton and Turner, heading to the quarter break trailing, 7-6.

The second quarter started much the same, this time with Prince George's scoring the first nine points of the stanza before AACC got on the board with 3:00 left on a pair of free throws from Boone. The Owls extended their lead to 12 as they headed to halftime with a 20-8 advantage.

Prince George's doubled up the Riverhawks, 19-8, in the third quarter before a 26-point fourth quarter performance.

The Owls held a 62-49 advantage in rebounds and outscored the Riverhawks, 40-6, in the paint.

AACC earned a forfeit win for their next scheduled game, Wednesday, January 11, at Hagerstown. The Riverhawks will host Hagerstown in a non-region game on Sunday, January 15, at 3 p.m. in Jenkins Gym.
