Women's Basketball Cruises Past NOVA

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team started the game on a 46-0 run en route to a 97-16 victory over visiting Northern Virginia Community College Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Gym. The Riverhawks, who have won two of their last three games, saw five of seven players score in double digits in the game.

AACC held the Nighthawks scoreless for the first 15:12 of the game while amassing the large lead.

Isabella Papaleonti led the Riverhawks with a career-high 24 points on 12 of 15 shooting. She added eight rebounds, seven assists, and six steals. Sydney Dorsey scored 18 points off the bench, with four rebounds, two assists and four steals. Brandy Middleton shot 8-for-10 with 17 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

Jada Turner scored 16 points to go with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Syrena Boone corralled a team-high nine rebounds to go with 10 points and six assists.

Thirty of the Riverhawks' 45 baskets came off assists as the team shot 56.3%. AACC scored 52 points in the paint and 42 via fast break.

The Riverhawks recorded a season-high 18 steals in the game and generated 35 points off of NOVA's 25 turnovers.

AACC is idle for the semester break, and starts back play on Saturday, January 7, in a 1 p.m. Region 20 divisional game against Prince George's at Jenkins Gym.
