McHenry, Md. – Host Garrett College defeated visiting Anne Arundel Community College, 87-48,  in NJCAA Region 20 women's basketball action Wednesday evening. Leila Townsend and Isabella Papaleonti each scored 13 points for the Riverhawks.

Townsend added six boards (five defensive), a team-high three assists, and a pair of steals to her line. Papaleonti logged a team-high eight rebounds, an assist, and a pair of steals.

The Lakers led, 21-12, at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 23 points by halftime. AACC scored 14 points in the third quarter and 15 in the third, but could not catch up.

The Riverhawks combined for 26 rebounds, with 20 coming off the defensive glass.

AACC continues its road trip Saturday with a 1 p.m. Region 20 divisional game at Butler.
