Brookdale Fends Off Women's Basketball, 79-61

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team fell to visiting Brookdale Community College, 79-61, Sunday afternoon at Jenkins Gym. Sydney Woodland led AACC with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Woodland was 10-for-12 from the charity stripe and also recorded a pair of steals. Brandy Middleton added 18 points and nine rebounds to go with five assists and a block.

Trailing by nine, AACC started the second quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to five before Brookdale sped off on a 10-2 run to re-extend the margin. The momentum turned back in the Riverhawks' favor as they then went on a 9-2 run to bring the game within three. A buzzer beater three-pointer by Brookdale's Jada Rogers made the game 40-34 in favor of the visitors at halftime.

AACC showed no signs of giving up, and held Brookdale scoreless for more than four minutes in the fourthe stringing together three-straight possessions with three-pointers for a 13-0 run. The lead, however, was too great to overcome.

AACC recorded a season-high 16 assists in the game. Brookdale converted 22 Riverhawks turnovers into 32 points.

AACC is back in action Tuesday, November 23 in a 6 pm game at CCBC Essex.
