Women's Basketball Competes at Jim Walton Classic

KEYSER, W.V. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team dropped a pair of games at the Jim Walton Classic hosted by Potomac State College. The Riverhawks fell to the host Catamounts, 63-52, in a battle Friday evening before dropping a 68-36 game to Garrett College Saturday.

Syrena Boone posted her second-stragith double-double Friday, netting a team-high 16 points to go with 13 rebounds. Four of five Riverhawks starters scored in double-digits, as Brandy Middleton and Jada Turner recorded 12 each, and Skylar Kaplan adding 10 to go with eight rebounds.

AACC led by eight after the first quarter, and by one at halftime. A strong third quarter by the Catamounts was the difference, but the Riverhawks showed no signs of quitting and regrouped for the fourth.

In Saturday's matchup, Naomi Ray recorded her first career double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds (11 defensive). Boone added 15 points and a pair of steals.

AACC trailed by three after the first quarter and by 11 at the half. Coming out of the break the Riverhawks were on fire, seeing Boone net 11 of her 15 points in the stanza. Foul trouble came into play in the fourth as the score slipped away.

AACC returns to action on Monday November 15, in a 5 pm non-region game at Chesapeake.
