Women's Basketball Fends off BC3

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team defeated visiting Butler County Community College, 63-53, Sunday afternoon to snap a three-game losing streak.

Sophomore center Sarah Healy led the way with her eighth double-double of the season, scoring 23 points to go with 22 rebounds, as well as five blocks and a pair of steals. Sophomore Autumn Foster-Fields added 20 points and a career-high 19 rebounds to go with four assists. Sophomore Lacey Hinkle recorded her first career double-double with season highs of 15 points and 13 boards to go with six assists.

AACC controlled the first half, leading 23-12 after the opening quarter and 39-31 at halftime. BC3 took command in the third, using an 11-0 run spanning four minutes to retake the lead on a pair of made free throws with five minutes left in the frame.

The Pioneers' lead lasted just 18 seconds, however, as the Riverhawks retook the lead on a Foster-Fields put back under the hoop. AACC extended its lead back to seven by the end of the third quarter and held on for a 10-point win.

AACC dominated the paint with a 44-10 advantage, and posted a season-high 69 rebounds to BC3's 37. The Riverhawks landed 21 second-chance points while holding the Pioneers scoreless in the same opportunities.

AACC will host Prince Goerge's on Saturday, December 14 at 1 pm in the Riverhawks' last game of 2019.
