B2B: No. 5 Men's Soccer Wins Region 20 & District Title

ARNOLD, MD – The No. 5 Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team secured its second-straight NJCAA Region 20 Division III and Mid-Atlantic District titles Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Prince George's Community College at Siegert Field. Nehemias Rubio scored the game-winner in the 84th minute.

The Riverhawks (11-4) advance to the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship November 9-13 at Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y.

Rubio's goal came on a free kick just outside the box after a foul thwarted an end-to-end run by Terrance Espinal. Rubio's shot went under the wall and bounced past the diving Prince George's keeper, Daniel Villatoro-Ramos. Villatoro-Ramos finished the game with five saves.

AACC keeper Edgar Garcia made three first-half saves in the shutout win, as the Riverhawks defense kept the Owls without a shot on net in the second half.

The Riverhawks are set to make their fourth trip to the national championship after appearances in 2021, 2005, and 1995.
