No. 5 Men's Soccer Downs Allegany for Trip to District Finals

ARNOLD, MD – The fifth-ranked Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team cruised past Allegany College of Maryland, 4-1, Thursday afternoon in the NJCAA DIII Region 20/Mid-Atlantic District Semifinals at Siegert Field.

The Riverhawks received goals from Malik Williamson, Leyton Calzado, Lizandro Tuchez Martinez, and Nehemias Ruibio. Assists came from Raphael Arias, Sam Adams, and Mo Sary.

Williamson got things rolling in the 18th minute, corralling a ball kicked from the center by a defender and finishing it from the right side. Less than two minutes later Arias carried the ball through midfield and found Calzado breaking up the side for the rookie's fourth goal in as many games.

Tuchez Martinez was coming up the wing when Adams fed him the ball. As Tuchez Martinez entered the corner of the box, he sent a cross up that clanged in off the crossbar into the far side of the net for a 3-0 lead.

Allegany got one back in the 78th minute and briefly threatened, but AACC kept the game under control. Rubio capped the scoring in the 88th minute as he went one-on-one with the goalie after Sary's pass went through three defenders to find his foot.

Keeper Edgar Garcia made four stops in the win, as AACC outshot the Trojans, 24-12.

AACC (10-4) secured its second-straight trip to the District title game and hit double-digit wins for the first time since 2016. The Riverhawks will face Prince George's for the District title on Saturday, October 29, at 1 pm at Siegert Field.
