No. 8 Men's Soccer, Rubio Defeat Catonsville

CATONSVILLE, MD – Led by a pair of penalty kick goals from midfielder Nehemias Rubio, the eighth-ranked Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team defeated host CCBC Catonsville Friday, 3-1. With the win, the Riverhawks close out the regular season with a 9-4 record.

Rubio's first PK came at 1:08 into the game, and the rookie capped the scoring in the 53rd minute at the opposite end.

Leyton Calzado headed in a cross from Terrance Espinal in the 29th minute for a 2-0 lead. Calzado has now scored in each of the last three games and in four of the last five contests.

Alec Britton scored the lone goal for CCBC Catonsville in the 53rd minute.

AACC, which played 21 different field players in the game, outshot Catonsville, 20-9, and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Keeper Edgar Garcia made one save in the win.

The Riverhawks host the Washington College JV team for a scrimmage at Siegert Field Monday, October 17 at 7 p.m. The Riverhawks await their seeding for the NJCAA Region 20 Tournament, hosted at AACC on October 27 and 29.
