Men's Soccer Drops Tourney Game to Nassau

HERKIMER, N.Y. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team scored three second-half goals Friday against Nassau at the NJCAA DIII Soccer Championships, but fell, 4-3, after a last-minute goal by the Lions. AACC battled back from two goals down twice in the game.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, Raphael Arias came up to score less than four minutes into the second stanza to cut the Lions' lead in half. Nassau answered back in the 62nd minute to retake a two-goal lead.

Sam Adams and Jack Castle scored unassisted goals just 45 seconds apart to knot the game in the 63rd minute.

AACC had several chances late in the game, but could not find the back of the net. With just 52 seconds left in the game, Nassau used a transition play to pot the game-winner.

Riverhawks goalkeeper Zane Saab made six saves in 72:08 in net. Ethan Miller played the final 17:52 with one save.

Adams was named to the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships All-Tournament Team.

AACC advanced to the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championships for the third time overall and first since 2016. The Riverhawks close the season with an 8-8 record.
