Game Notes

The Riverhawks hosted the NJCAA DI Region XX Hawks from the College of Southern Maryland this past Tuesday night (10/10) with AACC earning the 4-3 victory.

Ryan Gruss (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would score early for the Riverhawks giving AACC the 1-0 lead less than 3 minutes into the first half. Wasting little time to respond, the Hawks would tie the match at 1-1 just five minutes in.

The two teams would continue trading goals for the remainder of the first half with Riverhawk goals by Gruss for his second - assisted by Mark Jacoby (Glen Burnie, MD/Old Mill), and Mario Carneiro (Crofton, MD/Indian Creek) assisted by Gruss.

With the Riverhawks scoring last in the goal trade-off, AACC would lead 3-2 over CSM after the first half.

To start the second half the Hawks of the College of Southern Maryland would, once again, tie the game (3-3) but Riverhawk Zachary Roberts (Pasadena, MD/Archbishop Spalding) would finish off a beautiful assist from Deion Hunter (Laurel, MD/Meade) reclaiming the lead at 4-3.

Each team would make some aggressive plays towards the net but fail to finish – as time expired, AACC earned the 4-3 win.
