Five From Men's Lacrosse Named All-Region

ARNOLD, Md. – Five members of the Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Region 20 Teams, it was announced Thursday. Sam Barrett was named to the first team. John McElhenny, Trevor Murray, and Parrish Fleming earned second team honors. Jack Schiavone was named honorable mention.

Barrett, a sophomore midfielder, led the Riverhawks and ranked seventh in the region with 48 points on 35 goals and 13 assists. He started all 11 games for AACC, with 10 multi-point games. Barrett twice recorded nine-point games, first in the season opener with seven goals and two assists, which he followed the next week with six goals and three assists. Barrett finished his career with 81 points on 59 goals and 22 assists.

McElhenny, a sophomore attacker, earned his second All-Region honor after being named honorable mention as a freshman. He totaled 40 points in 10 games played with 29 goals and 11 assists, ranking him eighth in the region in points. He let loose for 10 goals and an assists in the Riverhawks' second game of the season, and totaled seven multi-point games this season. McElhenny more than doubled his point total from a year ago to finish with 58 career points on 40 goals and 18 assists.

A freshman midfielder, Murray was the top faceoff man for the Riverhawks this season, finishing with 85 faceoff wins in 178 attempts with a team-high 49 groundballs. He had a career-high day in AACC's second game of the season, going 24-for-36 at the faceoff x, while adding two goals and six assists for eight points. On the season, Murray totaled 16 points on six goals and 10 assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Parrish Fleming started all 11 games for the Riverhawks, making 147 saves in just over 600 minutes between the pipes. His .480 save percentage placed him fifth among region keepers. Fleming made a career-high 20 saves at Genesee in March, and had double-digit save performances in nine of 11 games.

Schiavone, a sophomore defender, led the team and region with 24 caused turnovers this season. He recorded a career-high six caused turnovers and picked up an assist in an early season win at Herkimer. Schiavone also took some of the Riverhawks' faceoffs, notably winning nine of 14 against Mercer.

AACC finished the season with a 4-7 record under second year head coach Jeremy Ross. AACC more than doubled its offensive output from the previous season, while also improving its goals against average by nearly six goals.
