Grusholt Named All-American

ARNOLD, MD. – Sophomore men's lacrosse student-athlete Brandon Grusholt has been named to the 2023 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse All-America First Team, it was announced Tuesday. Grusholt was previously named NJCAA Region 20 Specialist of the Year while earning first team All-Region 20 honors.

Grusholt, listed at LSM on the roster, took on both offensive and defensive roles for the Riverhawks this year while starting every game. He covered each opponent's top midfielder before moving down to cover that team's top attackman. Grusholt was key on the faceoff wing and logged more minutes on the field than any other AACC player. On offense, he always drew the pole whether he himself was playing short or long stick.

"I am extremely proud of Brandon and his well-deserved honor," said AACC Head Coach Jeremy Ross.  "Brandon has done all the right things since he's stepped on campus, both athletically and academically."

"The season didn't go the way anyone wanted, but despite that Brandon showed up every day in practice and every game and made his presence known," he added.

Grusholt ranked third in Region 20 and ranked 11th nationally with 51 groundballs, picking up the most in the region by a non-faceoff specialist. Grusholt also ranked third in the Region and sixth nationally with 23 caused turnovers. He scored nine goals on 16 shots on goal, and added three assists for 12 points on the season.

Grusholt was previously a Second Team All-MDJUCO selection in 2021. He is the third first team honoree from AACC since 2018 (Sam Weisshaar, 2021; Nicholas Karnes, 2018).
