Grusholt Named Region 20 Specialist of the Year

ARNOLD, MD. – Two members of the Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team were honored by Region 20, it was announced recently. Sophomore LSM Brandon Grusholt was named the Region 20 Specialist of the Year and to the All-Region 20 First Team. Freshman attackman John McElhenny was named to the All-Region 20 Honorable Mention Team.

Grusholt took on both offensive and defensive roles for the Riverhawks this year while starting every game. He was charged with covering opponents' top midfielder before moving down to cover that team's top attackman. Grusholt was key on the faceoff wing and logged more minutes on the field than any other AACC player. On offense, he always drew the pole whether he himself was playing short or long stick.

Statistically, Grusholt ranked third in the Region in groundballs with 51, picking up the most in the region by a non-faceoff specialist. Grusholt also ranked third in caused turnovers with 23. He scored nine goals on 16 shots on goal, and added three assists for 12 points on the season.

McElhenny started all six games in which he played, finishing with a team-high 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists. He recorded a career-high six points on four goals and two assists at Williamson College of the Trades on March 31.

AACC faced four teams ranked in the top five of the NJCAA poll throughout the season under first year Head Coach Jeremy Ross.
