No. 1 Nassau Tops Men's Lacrosse

ARNOLD, MD. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team fell to top-ranked Nassau, 19-5, Sunday in NJCAA action at Siegert Field. Nick Stroble and Payton Williams led the Riverhawks with two goals each, and John McElhenny added three assists.

Nassau jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Stroble scored on a man-up opportunity with under two minutes left in the first quarter. Nassau scored three straight, spanning into the second quarter before McElhenny fed Payton Williams for a behind-the-back strike at 7:54.

AACC's third goal came late in the second, again on the man-up, and this time a Stroble from McElhenny combo.

The Lions scored just as the halftime buzzer sounded, then used a 6-0 third quarter to bolster their lead to 17-3.

AACC scored twice in a two-minute span early in the fourth quarter as Brandon Grusholt fed Jake Coleman at X for the first strike just 21 seconds into the frame, and McElhenny again connected with Williams for his second goal of the game.

AACC goalie JT Lundquist made 19 saves in the game. Jack Schiavone and Stroble each won a pair of faceoffs.

Up next, the Riverhawks host Herkimer of NJCAA Region 3 on Friday, March 17th at 3 p.m. at Siegert Field.
