COLUMBIA, MD – The Dragons of Howard Community College were able hold their lead over Anne Arundel Community College's Riverhawk men's lacrosse team, earning them a 11-10 win. The loss puts the Riverhawks at 6-3 for the season and 6-1 for the Dragons.
From the score to the statistics the game was extremely close, with HCC winning ground balls 41-39, turnovers 18-17, and AACC winning the face-offs 13-12.
The Dragons were not comfortable long with their 10-6 lead to start the fourth quarter as the Riverhawks scored three unanswered goals to close the gap to 10-9. With only 3:35 remaining in the game HCC answered with Austin Mitchell scoring their eleventh to extend their lead 11-9. Michael Bigelow during a man-up attempt was able to find the goal, putting the score at 11-10 and stopping the clock with just six seconds remaining. HCC won the battle of the last face off and as time expired, earned them the victory.
The Riverhawks next match-up is a home game vs. the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the turf at Siegert Stadium.
