Golf Wins Second Match in Three Days

HAMPSTEAD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College golf team won its second match in three days Thursday as the Riverhawks won the Spring Carroll Classic at Oakmont Green Golf Course. AACC finished 10 strokes ahead of the second place team, host Carroll Community College.

Tim Brophy won the medalist spot with a three-over 75. He eagled the 10th hole and was consistent throughout the day with 12 par efforts.

Ryan Brophy had a pair of birdies and finished in second place on the leaderboard with an 80 (+8).

Sam Thompson carded an 83 (+11) after shooting par on 11 holes. Ethan Baran (+20) and Darren Hoffman (+23) rounded out the scoring for AACC.

Non-scoring members of the AACC team impressed as Ela Simpson finished tied for 14th overall will a TBD (+18). Ian Fitzgerald (+20) tied for 17th, and Jameson Haynes (+22) tied for 10th. Greg Howe was 24 over in his collegiate debut and Jonathan Fletcher finished 28 over.

AACC travels to Middletown, Md., on April 9 and 10 for the combined MDJUCO/Region 20 Division II Championships hosted by Hagerstown at Maryland National Golf Club.
