Golf Claims MDJUCO Title

ISSUE, MD. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's golf team captured the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO) title Thursday at Swan Point Yacht and Country Club. Led by medalist Austin Smith, the Riverhawks placed four golfers in the top 10 to finish 12 strokes ahead of runner up Hagerstown.

AACC combined for a team score of 331, followed by Hagerstown with a 343. Carroll rounded out the team scores with a 362.

Smith shot a 75 (+3) on the course and Parker Black finished one stroke back in second place. Ian Fitzgerald fired an 86 to finish in fifth and Connor Hackett was one stroke back in a tie for seventh.

Other golfers competing for Anne Arundel were Carter King (93) and Chase Kasulke (101).

AACC last won the MDJUCO championship in 2009 under second-year head coach Damion Cosby. The MDJUCO championship consists of NJCAA schools in Maryland in Divisions I, II and III.

Next up for AACC, the Riverhawks host the NJCAA Region 20 Championship May 19-21, 2023 at The Cannon Club in Lothian, Md. Qualifiers will advance to the NJCAA DIII Championship June 6-9, at the Chautauqua Country Club in Chautauqua, N.Y.
