Golf Opens Season With Top Finish at South River Shootout

EDGEWATER, MD. – The Anne Arundel Community College golf team opened the season by hosting the 2nd Annual South River Shootout Tuesday at the Golf Club at South River. The Riverhawks handily placed first against full teams from Carroll and Hagerstown, and two individuals from the College of Southern Maryland.

AACC freshman Parker Black took home co-medalist honors with a par 72. He was one over on the front nine and one under on the back. Joining Black in the top individual spot was Jackson Schultz from Hagerstown.

Riverhawk sophomore Austin Smith placed third overall with a 79. Smith rallied from a tough front nine to record par on the back. Classmate Chase Kasulke placed fourth overall with an 80, and freshman Connor Hackett rounded out the scoring for AACC with an 83.

AACC finished 34 strokes ahead of second-place Carroll, and 36 ahead of third place Hagerstown.

The Riverhawks are back in action on Thursday, April 6, in a Region and Conference match hosted by Carroll Community College at Oakmont Greens Golf Course in Hampstead, Md.
