Men's Basketball Overcomes Early Deficit in Win Over Cecil

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team rallied from an early deficit to defeat visiting Cecil College, 71-62, in NJCAA Region 20 divisional action at Jenkins Gym Wednesday evening. The game featured six ties and seven lead changes.

Jeremiah Stroman led all scorers with 32 points off the bench, picking up his second double-double of the season with 12 rebounds. Kris Peet added 18 points and and eight defensive rebounds.

Cecil led by as many as eight midway through the first half before AACC used an 11-0 run capped by a Stroman three-pointer to retake command of the game. The Riverhawks kept building up to a nine-point advantage -- their largest lead of the game -- just prior to halftime, and carried a 33-26 advantage into halftime.

Cecil climbed back into the game, tying it at 39-39 eight minutes into the second half. The lead traded hands six times until AACC took the reins for good with under three to play, again on a Stroman three-pointer to make it 61-60. AACC held Cecil scoreless over the final 54 seconds and Angelo Harris made a statement dunk to seal the deal.

The Riverhawks made a season-high 34 turnovers in the game, leading to 22 points for Cecil off of miscues. AACC, meanwhile, manufactured 26 points off of the Seahawks' 24 turnovers.

AACC led the rebounding battle, 53-34, with Stroman accounting for 11 of the Riverhawks' 40 defensive boards.

The Riverhawks are back in action on Friday in a 7 p.m. NJCAA Region 20 divisional game at CCBC Catonsville.
