Men's Basketball Falls To Prince George's in Region Tourney

YOUNGWOOD, PA – A late surge sent the second seed Prince George's men's basketball team past fourth seed Anne Arundel Community College, 106-77, in the Region 20 Division III tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon at Westmoreland County Community College. The Riverhawks were paced by a career-high 31 points from Jeremiah Stroman.

Stroman, who sank 13 of 14 free throws in the game, added seven rebounds and a block. Joining him in double figures was Marquis James, who added 13 points and six boards, as well as Nicholas Augusterfer, who scored 13 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Prince George's started the game on an 8-0 run and never trailed in the game. After coming out of halftime trailing, 54-37, AACC's defense awoke, forcing the Owls to shoot only from outside, and frustrated Prince George's into calling a time out less than five minutes into the half.

AACC chipped away at the Owls, and cut the deficit to single digits, 70-61, on an Augusterfer layup that capped a 12-2 run midway through the half. The Owls responded, building up to a 29-point lead with under two minutes to play, in part thanks to a 12-for-17 team effort from the free throw line in the half.

Prince George's outrebounded AACC at a 45-30 margin, though the Riverhawks pulled down 24 defensive rebounds to the Owls' 28.

AACC wraps up the season with a 4-26 record.
