Men's Hoops Downs CCAC in Largest Win of Season

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team earned its largest victory of the season Tuesday with an 89-70 win over visiting CCAC at Jenkins Gym. Jeremiah Stroman led four Riverhawks in double-digit scoring with 25 points.

Stroman finished just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and dished five assists. Truth Norton added 19 points and nine boards (all defensive) to go with four assists and a pair of steals. Malik Carroll scored 12 points with four rebounds, and Jack Taylor filled the stats sheet with 10 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

CCAC led briefly early in the first half, bolstered by a 28-point night from Abed Khayat, but AACC settled into a rhythm and held a 10-point lead by the midway point of the opening frame. The Wild Cats cut the lead with six with 2:02 to play in the first half, but AACC held a 44-40 advantage headed into halftime.

AACC used a 12-2 run early in the second half to take control of the game and extended its lead to a game-high 23 with 4:30 to play on a Chris Thomas three-pointer.

AACC scored 17 points off of CCAC's 13 turnovers, and outscored the Wild Cats, 48-32 in the paint. The Riverhawks held a 47-29 advantage in rebounds, and scored 19 second-chance points to CCAC's eight.

The Riverhawks, now 1-1 in Region 20 divisional games,  are back in action on Thursday in a 6 p.m. game at Delaware Tech.
