Young Tabbed Region 20 Player of the Month

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College sophomore forward Jamar Young has been named the NJCAA Region 20 Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Month for games in January, 2022, it was announced recently. The award marks the second this season for the Annapolis native.

Young averaged 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game in January, when AACC did not face a Division III opponent. He recorded two 20+ point games, the first on January 21st against Division II Howard, where he scored 27 points on 52% shooting and pulled down six rebounds. On January 31st against USCAA Division II Christendom, Young scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor and added seven rebounds.

Young was previously named the Region 20 player of the month, securing honors for the month of November 2021 when he 31-62 from the floor and averaged 13 points per game in five contests, only one of which was at home. He scored 228 points in AACC's upset road win at defending national champion Sandhills on November 5, 2021. Young was also named the Maryland JUCO Player of the Month across all divisions in November. 

Young and the Riverhawks wrapped up the season last weekend in the NJCAA Region 20 Division III championship game. Young finished the season averaging 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He recorded a double-double in five of the last six games of the year.
