Cavey Named Region 20 Player of the Month

ARNOLD, MD -- Sophomore forward Braeden Cavey has been named the NJCAA Region 20 Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Month, for games in December, 2021. Cavey averaged a double-double with 19.8 points and 10.3 rebounds through six games, leading the Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team to a 4-2 record during the month.

Cavey shot 46.9% from the floor and 48% from three-point range while adding 1.5 blocks per game in December. He had three double-doubles, three games of 23+ points and scored 14+ points in five games in the span.

Cavey opened the month with a career-high 31 points against Division II College of Southern Maryland, adding 11 rebounds in the game. He played a key role in a comeback win over CCBC Catonsville on December 15, finishing with a team-high 12 rebounds, the last of which led to the game-winning basket with 18 seconds remaining. Cavey also hit seven of 13 three-pointers (53.8%) in the game. On December 12, Cavey scored 26 points and pulled down 16 rebounds at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, shooting 66.7% (10-15) from the floor and 66.7% (6-9) from three.

Overall this season, Cavey is averaging 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, shooting 44.2% from the floor and 43.2% from three-point range.

AACC is back in action on Wednesday, January 19, in a 5 pm home game against #9 Cecil (NJCAA Division II).
