Men's Basketball Sweeps Road Trip to CCAC, Penn Highlands

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team picked up a pair of divisional Region 20 road wins this weekend, defeating CCAC 86-58, and Pennsylvania Highlands, 98-88.

Four players scored in double digits against CCAC, led by Jamar Young with 22 points on 64% shooting. Braeden Cavey added 16 points and four blocks, while Che Colbert scored 15. Michael Cantrel had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists to go with four steals.

The Riverhawks shot 50.7% on the day and outrebounded their hosts, 31-18.

The next day at Pennsylvania Highlands, four players scored 20 or more points, led by a 26-point-16 rebound performance by Cavey. Young also had a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds, adding eight assists. Cantrell scored 20 points to go with nine assists and seven rebounds, and Colbert added 20 points and four assists.

The Riverhawks pulled down a season-high 47 rebounds in the game, and assisted two-thirds of their field goals, again shooting 50.7% on the day.

AACC returns to Jenkins Gym Wednesday, December 15, for a 7 pm game against CCBC Catonsville. The "Merry Swishmas!" game will feature a holiday theme and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council is accepting new utensil donations for the AACC Student Pantry. Anyone who brings in a new item to donate will be entered into a prize raffle to be drawn at halftime of the men's game. Items desired for the pantry include: measuring cup sets, measuring spoon sets, bowls (s/m/l), mixing spoons, whisks, spatulas, cutting boards, aluminum baking pans, aluminum muffin baking pans, plastic storage bags (gallon & quart), plastic wrap, storage containers, can openers, and colanders.
