Game Notes

The Riverhawks started off the New Year with a conference and regional loss at home this Friday evening (1/5/2018), falling to the NJCAA DIII Region XX Owls of Prince George's Community College 87-63.

The Owls would jump out scoring the first bucket and begin to build their lead early as AACC found themselves struggling to stop PG's drives though the paint. Refusing to give up, the Riverhawks would fight back to cut the deficit to just two points (16-14) as Miles Dobson (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) was able to string together a couple buckets mid-way through the first half. Prince George's would respond with a scoring run of their own and as the first half came to an end the Owls had a 15-point lead (47-32) over the Riverhawks.

The second half wouldn't play out as AACC would have hoped, and the Owls were relentless in their drives. Shooting 25-74 (33.8%) from the floor, 9-16 (56.3%) at the free-throw line, and just 4-20 (20%) from beyond the arc the Riverhawks just couldn't get it done tonight, allowing the Owls to take the 87-63 win.

Jacoby Rojas (San Angelo, TX/Northeast) would finish scoring 18 points and grabbing 9 rebounds for AACC, and Clinton Smith (Glen Burnie, MD/Old Mill) would earn a double-double on the night with his 11 points and 14 rebounds.
