Men's Basketball Advances to Semi-Finals with 81-78 win over WCCC

ARNOLD, MD - Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawk men's basketball held off a late rally by the Wolfpack of Westmoreland Community College to advance, 81-78, to the semi-final round of the NJCAA DIII Region 20 Basketball Tournament.

Marcus Dentley led the Riverhawks in scoring with 32 points, followed by Wesley Bennett with 16 points, and Jemeul Brown who record a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Down by only 1 point after the first half, the Riverhawks answered with powerful second-half scoring by Marcus Dentley and Wesley Bennett allowing them a comfortable lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game.  Yet the Wolfpack of WCCC was relentless - capitalizing on their defensive stops and utilizing transition points they were able to battle back to contention.

Despite Reuben Edwards 27 points and the team shooting 6-11 from beyond the arc, the Wolfpack, who were seeded fourth for the tournament, end their season with the loss to the Riverhawks.

The Riverhawks move on to the semi-final match-up of the tournament, facing the number one seed, the Owls of Prince George's Community College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.  inside the Jenkins Gymnasium of Anne Arundel Community College.
