Baseball Takes Two From CCBC Dundalk

ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team swept visiting CCBC Dundalk, 8-3 and 4-1, in NJCAA Region 20 divisional action at Skip Brown Field Saturday afternoon. The Riverhawks move to 18-14 overall and 11-7 in Region 20 DII games.

Game One

The Riverhawks scored four runs in the first inning and held the Lions to three hits in the game. Dundalk scored one in the first on a sac fly to left before AACC starter Donny White struck out the final two batters to get out of the inning with a runner stranded on third.

AACC collected three hits in the bottom of the inning, seeing two come across on a Conner Bosley single through the left and another pair on a  Russell Turner double to center.

After a 1-2-3 second for the Lions, AACC tacked on two more runs with two outs on an infield error.

A wild pitch sent one Dundalk runner across in the fifth, and AACC returned the favor in the bottom half as Bosley also scored on a wild pitch. The Riverhawks scored a single run in the sixth on a bases loaded wild pitch.

A leadoff double turned into a run for the Lions in the top of the seventh on a one-out RBI infield single.

Reliever Jack Davidson earned the win, allowing just one hit and one walk in two innings. White fanned two and walked one while allowing a run on zero hits through two. Zach Ford threw one inning of relief, allowing one run on zero hits while walking two and striking out one. Kyle Smoak finished the game with a run on two hits in two innings.

Game Two

AACC scored single runs in the first, third, and fifth innings of game two and finished the game with seven stolen bases. Nicco Holland was on the bump to start, earning the win with five innings of scoreless work in which he allowed two hits while striking out four and walking one. At the plate, Holland put the Riverhawks on the board in the first with a sac fly.

AACC had runners in scoring position in the second and third, but it wasn't until John Greenawalt hit a two-run double down the left field line that the Riverhawks crossed the plate.

Bosley hit an infield single in the fifth, stole second, and advanced to third on a fly out, setting up the Riverhawks' next run on a White single through the left.

Dundalk finally got on the board in the sixth. With runners on second and third, an RBI groundout to short sent one runner across. AACC ended the game on a double play in the seventh.

Sam Ross came on in the sixth to earn his fourth save of the season with one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk.

AACC returns to action on Wednesday, April 3, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Prince George's.
