Baseball Rallies Past Cecil

ARNOLD, MD. – Sophomore outfielder Will Burchick hit a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally the Anne Arundel Community College baseball team to a 9-7 victory over visiting Cecil College Wednesday afternoon at Skip Brown Field.

With two outs in the sixth inning and runners on second and third, Burchick sent the ball through the right side of the field to score what would become the winning runs. Reliever Zach Ford closed out the game with a hitless seventh inning for his third save of the season.

John Greenawalt went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the game. Alejandro Casanova and Conner Bosley each drove in a pair of runs.

The Riverhawks scored twice in the first inning on an Ethan Grieb triple and an RBI groundout from Casanova.

Cecil scored four runs in the third inning to take a two-run lead before AACC responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Casanova.

AACC followed with two runs in the both the fourth and fifth innings before a three-run home run from Cecil's Garrett Worthington tied up the game in the sixth.

Starter Jordan Bonhoff went 2.1 innings allowing four runs on a walk and six hits before giving way to Jack Hogan, who gave up four hits in 2.2 innings. Will D'Antoni pitched in the sixth before Matt Wisniewski came on with two outs to end the inning. Ford struck out the first batter of the seventh and stranded one on the bases to end the game.

AACC hosts CCBC Catonsville Saturday, April 8, in a 12 p.m. NJCAA Region 20 doubleheader at Skip Brown Field.
