McDonald Named Region 20 Player of the Month

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College pitcher Jacob McDonald has been named the NJCAA Region 20 Division II Baseball Player of the Month, it was announced Thursday. The sophomore righty went 2-1 in three starts in February with a 1.13 ERA.

McDonald struck out 22 batters in 16 innings on the mound, giving up just two runs on nine hits while walking two. In the season opener at Surry on February 4, McDonald struck out five and allowed one run on three hits in four innings. In the Riverhawks' home opener on February 18, McDonald gave up just one hit in five innings of scoreless work and struck out a career-high eight batters. In his third start, he struck out a new career-best nine batters in a one-hit complete game (seven innings) win.

On the season, the Pasadena, Md., native is 2-1 in four starts with an 0.95 ERA. He has struck out 25 batters while allowing just two runs on nine hits in 19 innings of work.

AACC is back in action on Friday, March 10, in a 12 p.m. doubleheader against Montgomery College. The Riverhawks continue their homestand Sunday, March 12, in a 12 p.m. doubleheader against Monroe-Bronx.
