Baseball Drops Pair at Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team dropped an NJCAA Region 20 doubleheader at Hagerstown Wednesday, falling to the Hawks, 10-0 and 7-5.

In the first game, Andrew Wells and Christian Murphy recorded hits for the Riverhawks, who managed three base runners in the game. Luke Emory started on the mount, allowing five runs on two hits, five walks, and a strikeout. Andrew Edwards allowed three runs (two earned) on five hit in 2.1 innings of relief before Matthew Wisniewski closed out the game allowing two runs on two hits.

In game two, AACC took a 3-2 lead in the third inning on a double to left by Andrew Leginze. Hagerstown took the lead for good in the fourth on back-to-back RBI singles, and added one more on the fifth on a sac fly, and two runs in the sixth on a passed ball and an RBI groundout.

Wells led off the top of the seventh with a single to center, advanced to second on a Lukas Lawrence walk, and scored when Nick Toskov drilled a ball to center. Lawrence later came around to score on an Andrew Leginze groundout.

Reed Matkins started the game on the mound, striking out four while allowing two runs on two hits and walking two. Jacob McDonald, Leginze, and Ethan Grieb all pitched at least one inning in relief.

AACC returns to Skip Brown Field after six road games to host Chesapeake on Sunday, April 24th in a 12 pm doubleheader.
