Baseball Splits Region Twinbill With Dundalk

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a home split with CCBC Dundalk Saturday. The Riverhawks won the first game, 11-6, before dropping the second, 7-1. Andrew Leginze drove in five runs on three hits on the day.

In the opener, AACC led 5-0 after two before Dundalk chipped away at the Riverhawks' lead, tying the game at 6-6 with a three-run home run in the top of the fifth. AACC then put together a five-run rally with two outs in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead. Andrew Wells hit a two-run single to right, and Leginze drove in three with a double down the left field line.

Reliever Matt Johnson picked up the win with 2.1 hitless, scoreless innings of work, striking out three and walking two. Starter Jacob McDonald fanned six while allowing six runs on nine hits.

In game two, Dundalk put up one run in the top of the first. AACC evened the score in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of an error with runners on the corners to tie it up, 1-1. Dundalk added two runs in the third and fourth before scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh. AACC had runners in scoring position in three different innings, but was unable to get anyone across.

Reliever Brady MacDonald took the loss with four runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. Starter Shane Emerson struck out three and allowed one run on one hit through two innings. Andrew Edwards and Luke Emory finished out the game, with Emory fanning two while allowing two runs on two hits in the sixth and seventh.

AACC returns home to host Harford in a MDJUCO twinbill Tuesday, March 8 at noon.
