Essex Edges Baseball in Season Finale

ROSSVILLE, MD – CCBC Essex snuck past the Anne Arundel Community College baseball team Tuesday, 4-3, in the Riverhawks' season finale. Ian Adams went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base to lead the Riverhawks.

Essex got on the board in the first, taking advantage of a passed ball to plate one before scoring another in the second on an RBI double to right.

Adams tied the game in the third with a two-run double to center. With two outs in the sixth, Jon Alderman scored from third on a failed pickoff attempt on Bradley Zoellner at first to give AACC a 3-2 lead. Zoellner then stole second and Tripp Templeton walked to get a runner in scoring position, but the inning ended on a groundout.

Essex knotted the game in the seventh after the leadoff batter singled, stole second and third, and came across on a sacrifice bunt. Similarly with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, a pinch runner stole second, advanced to third on a ground out, and scored on a passed ball.

Starter AJ Zeak struck out five while allowing three runs (one earned) on just three hits through seven innings. Lennie Lehner took the loss despite not allowing a hit in the final 1.2 innings.

AACC wraps up the season with a 9-24 record.
