Riverhawk Win Conference Divisional Game Over Essex

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College's Riverhawk baseball team defeated the Knights of CCBC Essex Wednesday afternoon, 9-5. The win moves the Riverhawks to 12-14 overall, but now 6-5 in the conference.

Dustin Gosnell started on the mound for the Riverhawks and would pitch 8 innings, recording 6 strikeouts, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs against 30 batters. Dominic Stanbery would enter the game facing 4 batters allowing 1 hit and 2 earned runs, with Sean Healy closing out, facing 3 batters, with 1 strikeout allowing Gosnell to get the win.

Samuel Ryan had quite a day for the Riverhawks, going 3-4 at bat with 2 runs and 4 RBIs while hitting his 4th homerun of the season in the 7th inning. Also leading for AACC was Matthew Semanick who went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs.

The conference divisional match-up was quiet on both sides with the Riverhawks leading just 1-0 after 4 innings but it was AACC who changed the momentum of play, scoring 5 in the bottom of the 5th. The Riverhawks would find themselves leading 9-0 entering the 9th.

Despite allowing the Knights to score 5 runs in the top of the 9th, the Riverhawks had given themselves a large enough lead, and with Stanberry and Healy closing out, were able to claim the 9-5 win.

The Riverhawks next match-up is scheduled for April 8th where they will travel to Montgomery College for a double header against the Raptor, set to start at 12:00 p.m.
