Fall Practice Season COVID Update

Fall Practice Season COVID Update

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College athletics has announced that the Riverhawks will complete their fall practice sessions 11 days early. The Riverhawks, originally scheduled to hold outdoor practices until December 14, will end the fall practice season on December 3.

"The College and AACC Athletics are committed to the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and community," said athletic director Duane Herr. "With safety at the forefront of our decision making, we have decided to end our practice season early to ensure the well-being of our entire Riverhawk family. We remain committed to assisting students in their academic progress and look forward to our continued planning for spring 2021."

In July, the NJCAA announced that it would move the majority of 2020 fall sport championship seasons to spring 2021, including men's and women's soccer and volleyball. The NJCAA also announced that the winter sports competition season, including men's and women's basketball, would be delayed until January 2021, and that spring sport championship seasons would remain mostly the same, affecting baseball, softball, golf, and men's and women's lacrosse.

AACC sponsors 12 varsity sports for men and women, and competes in both NJCAA Region XX and the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MDJUCO).
