Head Coach Jim Griffiths Steps Down After 18 Seasons

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College's long-time women's lacrosse coach Jim Griffiths has announced that he will step down after 18 seasons at the helm of the Riverhawks program. Upon much thought and consideration, Griffiths will now focus his attention and continue his duties as head coach for the women's cross country program at AACC.

Leaving a legacy, to say the least, Coach Jim Griffiths is one of the winningest women's lacrosse coaches in the NJCAA and will take with him two national championships, four second place finishes, a number of national tournament appearances, multiple Region and Conference championships and appearances, as well as coach of the year awards. Furthering contributing to the sport, Coach Griffiths served as Coaches Association President at both the national and conference levels.

"While it is a great loss to us I also find joy in knowing that Coach Griffiths will have more time to focus on other ventures he enjoys," says Duane Herr, Anne Arundel Community College Director of Athletics. "It is difficult to find the correct words to share about an individual who has been instrumental to the success of AACC Athletics. Most important, he has molded the lives of many young women and assisted them in the continuation of their academic and athletic careers. I believe he set the standard for women's lacrosse in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, within Region XX, and has been an activist in the success of the sport at the junior college level."

On behalf of all the staff, students, athletes, and individuals who have benefited from the influence and teachings of Coach Jim Griffiths – we thank you.
